Federal Programs
Canada Greener Homes Loan (ACTIVE)
Launched: 2021 – Ongoing (as of May 2025)
Offers interest-free loans from $5,000 to $40,000 for major energy-efficient retrofits, including window and door replacements. Requires a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation.
Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) (ENDED)
June 2021 – February 12, 2024
Provided up to $5,000 in grants for eligible retrofits, including windows and doors, plus up to $600 for EnerGuide evaluations. Products had to meet specific energy performance standards.
Ontario Provincial Programs
Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) (ENDED)
January 2023 – February 5, 2024
Jointly delivered by Enbridge Gas and the federal government. Provided up to $10,000 in rebates, including $325 per eligible window or door. Required pre- and post-retrofit evaluations.
Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) (ENDED)
2019 – 2021
Delivered by Enbridge Gas. Offered up to $5,000 for a range of energy-efficiency upgrades, including window and door replacements.
Green Ontario Fund (GreenON) (ENDED)
2017 – June 2018
Provided rebates of up to $5,000 for replacing windows with high-performance ENERGY STAR® models. The program was cancelled mid-2018.
